I think this savingram leaves the way clear for the petition to be submitted to His Majesty. The Governor has offered to introduce legislation by which the officers Hata from County and Borough Police Forces in 1945 will qualify for supplementary pensions equivalent to those they would have received in respect of their service in the United Kingdom; subject to their handing over to Government the refund of pension contributions made to them in the United Kingdom. This goes further than our suggestion in (29) on the '48 papers and is a considerable gesture.

Governor's recommendations in his despatch at (27) on the '48 file on all the other matters raised in the petition, and I think there remain for consideration only
certain minor points raised in (1), on most of high we need the advice of C.S.D:-
